John and his team did an amazing job renovating the natural slate roof of our Victorian property in Blackheath. During the works John and his team kept us up to date with progress and when there were some issues during the job (a few rotten timbers) he would take a picture and send it to us with the cost to replace which was much appreciated. John also went to great lengths to source some specific ornamental ridge tiles for us from a reclamation yard in Kent (we live in a conservation area and  needed to maintain the original roof features) and he found some which perfectly matched and were great value as second hand. The price he quoted for the work was exceptionally competitive and they also provide a ten year guarantee which is a great piece of mind. From our experience of dealing with John it seems he always has the client in mind and he is very conscious of not incurring unnecessary cost where possible. We recommend John and his team highly as they are top class roofers who are masters at their craft and are an absolute pleasure to deal with.

From the moment of contact to a follow-up courtesy call John was unfailing helpful, polite and professional. On the first visit he took care 

to explain what he needed to do in detail and plain English (no technical jargon that i could not understand.)  He showed me all the necessary 

paperwork, including his accreditation, qualifications and insurance cover. 

The date for the work was quickly agreed and the work was completed in ten days of contracting him. He and his son were pleasant and hardworking and cleared up after themselves. All this together with a very competitive

 quote means that i would not hesitate to recommend them and  would happily use them again 

The professionalism of Scudder Roofing was evident from our first meeting with John senior. The quote for re-roofing our house was comprehensive and was, in fact, the best quote we received. All aspects of the work were carried out with maximum efficiency. John junior and Jay were friendly, approachable and supremely competent, nothing was too much trouble. They arrived punctually at 8 am and worked full days completing the job in eight days. Communication throughout was exemplary. The new roof, in Eternit Thrutone slates looks fantastic. Can roofing be beautiful
Yes it can, if the roofer is a proud craftsman who wants to make it beautiful. John Scudder and his team were just that. All the rest - hard work, a clean and well organised worksite, informative discussions and involvement with me, mastery of both traditional and very modern materials - follow from that pride in the work. All at a better price than many of the 'big boys' from whom I had had estimates Up on the scaffold each day to have a look, I was especially taken with the lovely leadwork, made to look classy (even if not very visible from the ground) as well as keeping the water out. And to see that the younger member of the team was being taught these skills. Well done team Scudder, thanks for my beautiful new roof.
